It snowed in Seattle last night. This is what I woke up to this morning:
What a wonderful sight for those of us who hardly ever see snow. During the holidays I really miss the Midwest and the snowy days. It just doesn't seem like the holiday season without the snow and cold weather. Now many of you might think I am nuts......but I think you too would enjoy snow at least for Christmas Day. That is one reason I wanted to stay in Seattle for the holidays instead of going to our home in Arizona.
Things are quite different around our house this week. The football season is officially over for Charlie which mean the reality has set in that our entire staff is fired. There is a new coach in place and he quickly gave the guys their walking papers which wasn't unexpected. Now, they want Charlie to return his university car so he and I will be sharing a vehicle for awhile. That should be interesting since I am on the go a lot. We will have to coordinate schedules; but, at the moment he doesn't have one. For the first couple of days he might enjoy relaxing at home; but, that is going to get old fairly quick. For a guy who never had time to develop any hobbies, this is going to be a time when he wished he had some to keep him busy!!
Friday night we went out for cocktails with our friends Mike and Dianne. It was a much needed outing with lots fun and laughter. Good medicine when you are sitting around the house trying not to think about being fired and losing your job. Here's a couple of photos I took of our staff who will soon all go their separate ways..............It really part of the coaching profession with coaches moving on to new jobs, teams, and cities.

Everyone one has been through a lot this year........but we have to remember there is a blessing and lesson we take from each experience in life. We also try to remember that when when one door closes another one opens!!!! The last time we were fired (2 years ago) I stopped blogging for almost 4 months. I just couldn't find the right words to express what was going on in my life. One thing I've learned about being a football coaches family, is that as a coach you have been fired or are waiting to be fired............And that's just kinda how we live our lives.
Yesterday Charlie and I went over to my cousin Eric and Mary Ann's house to check out their Christmas tree. After I sewed up a couple of things on Mary Ann's sewing machine, we went to a thrift store where she had previously found some vintage ornaments. At first we thought that more vintage ornaments would allude us. But out of nowhere Mary Ann found these:
And guess what? The ornaments were only priced at $5.00. And on Saturday all Christmas decorations were half price so these definitely were a steal at $2.50. I told Mary Ann to keep these gems when she offered them to me..........But, as you can see they are now safely in my possession and will be loved and cherished in our home. I surprised that Charlie also likes my vintage collection and doesn't miss the other decorations I usually use each year.
Hope each of you had an enjoyable weekend as we continue the countdown to Christmas!!
Lisa
