Wow.........I just cannot seem to find the time to sneak in here and post. It seems like I have 10,000 projects going and nothing is getting done. Added to the fact that I spend too much time reading other peoples blogs..............that really is my downfall.
But, I did want to share this card I made for Lori, a chemotherapy patient that I met through an organizaton called "Chemo Angels." Lori is a elementary school teacher from North Carolina who has IBC Breast Cancer Stage IV. As an angel we assist the patient while they are going through chemotherapy process, by sending them cards and small gifts. I am angeling Lori in remembrance of my sister Carolyn who died of breast cancer at the age of 41.
The design of this card was inspired by the classes I took from Rebecca Sower at Silver Bella.
My new favorite thing this week (lol) is burlap!!!! Seriously, I am dreaming about all the creative things I can do with it and it also very inexpensive!!! The intention of this card is too look rustic and homemade which you can tell by my imperfect stitching. I purchased this burlap at a local fabric store. The striped & the toile fabric was purchased from French General last summer. (I believe they have fabric swatch packs on their web site: French General). I used my Sizzix Bigshot to cut out the flowers but of course you can do it by hand. I then used Stazon Black ink to stamp sentiment on linen fabric which I glued onto another piece of fabric before placing it on the card.
I was just playing around with this card and I kinda like the imperfectness of it............ I have some other stitching projects under wraps for now. It's always fun trying something new, especially when the stitching doesn't have to be perfect.
I also wanted to show you this fabulously cute bag I purchased at Silver Bella before I sign off . Its almost 1:00 a.m.. and I should be sleeping.
Can't you see its made out of burlap? I bought this bag at Kim Kwan's and Cori's booth at Silver Bella and I believe it was made by Cori's mom?!?!?! Well, if you know me I had to be the first Bella to snatch it up!!!! Now, I am dreaming up all kinds of ways to use it. But it is also pretty to look at too! Night night for now.........I am suppose to be sleeping!

Oh my goodness! The card and bag both make me want to do something creative - copy them! LOL "But I have no time", she says breathlessly as she dashes out the door to go to estate sales.

Wow!! commentators, cool!!! I love the card, I love the color combination, I wish that you could rip the burlap instead of cutting it, but I love the burlap. Good job!!! How many birds did you make for your tree now? :-)

Okay seriously? That's too funny. Guess what I just came home with from Joann's? Yep, 2 yards of burlap! Great minds think alike girl!
